Who we are
A small studio in New York’s Capital Region, built on twenty years of making systems work for the people who use them.
Where we come from
Before Gateway, our founder spent twenty years using advanced business analysis to inform the design, testing and support of enterprise systems that people had to use to get their work done. Most of that job is listening — sitting with the people who know the work, asking how it really happens, and turning the answers into something that works on a screen.
A website for a small business is the same job at a different scale. The methods came with us. The jargon didn’t.
What to expect
-
We test rather than assume Nothing goes live because it looks right on our screen. It goes live because we tried it — every link, every form, on the phones and laptops your customers actually use — and it worked.
-
We tell you early If something you’ve asked for is going to cause a problem, you’ll hear it from us before it’s built. That isn’t always what a client wants to hear, but it is cheaper than finding out after launch.
-
We don’t disappear at launch Every project includes its first months of Gateway Care, so questions still go to the people who built your site. After that you choose: keep the plan, or take the training and run it yourself.
-
You’ll understand it No jargon. You’ll know what every part of your site is for, and why it’s there.
Who we work with
Startups, growing companies, and small local businesses. Professional services, medical and dental practices, property management, manufacturing. Businesses where the website has a job to do and somebody notices if it isn’t doing it.
Not every project is a fit. When it isn’t, we’ll say so — and point you toward someone better suited if we can.
